VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! APRIL 24TH, 2010, 9 AM – 3 PM EARTH DAY CLEAN UP & CELEBRATION!

On Saturday, April 24th, 2010, 9 am – 3 pm; Community Works Rhode Island (CWRI) in collaboration with the Providence Department of Public Works, the Environmental Justice League of Rhode Island, and various community partners; are calling for volunteers for the 1st Annual Southside Shines Clean Up & Earth Day Celebration. The event will be located at the Algonquin House (807 Broad St.Providence, RI 02907). This is an opportunity for volunteers, nonprofits, college students, environmental groups, civic/community service organizations, and community residents to aid in accomplishing dual missions.

The first mission is to assist in establishing a tradition within a section of Providence that has invaluable historical & cultural significance to the city of Providence. The second mission is to send a message that the people who live and work within the Southside of Providence (and in surrounding areas) care about the quality of life in their community.

Community Works Rhode Island (CWRI) is a community economic development corporation in Providence, RI which creates opportunities within the neighborhoods it serves for people to live in affordable and healthy homes, to improve their lives and to strengthen their communities. The goal is to transform underserved neighborhoods to be more sustainable.
