
- Roger Wheeler State Beach - Clean, sandy,
safe family beach.
- Salty Brine State Beach - Clean, gentle surf. Great fishing off
the rocks in the port of Galilee.
- Scarborough State Beach - Clean, clear, moderate to heavy surf.
Excellent for body surfing.
- Narragansett Town Beach - Long, southeast facing beach with long,
smooth-breaking waves. Offers some of the best East Coast
surfing.
For the non-beach bums, Narragansett has PLENTY of other activities! For example: Southland River Boat Cruises - the Southland Riverboat has been providing harbor tours, sightseeing cruises, sunset cruises, fall foliage cruises, boat charters and private charters for over 30 years.
The South County Museum, located right across from Narragansett Town beach, is great for a fun family afternoon! You can learn all about the history of Southern RI, and then go grab an ice cream cone at Nana's in the Pier Marketplace! For the tennis players & campers Fishermen’s Memorial State Park is a Coastal Park with tennis courts, a playground and 182 tent and trailer sites.
At the Southern end of Narragansett is Galilee Fishing Village. Galilee is a quaint fishing village with a working fishing fleet. You can wander the docks and have some chowder & clam cakes while watching the boats come through the channel! A sight worth seeing is theNarragansett Indian Monument on the intersection of Kingstown Road and Strathmore Street. The monument is carved from a single Douglas fir by Peter Toth, this 23-foot sculpture is one of 41 throughout the country honoring the American Indian.
One of the most recognizable sights in Narragansett is the old Narragansett Pier Life Saving Station on Ocean Road. The historic stone structure is the famed Coast Guard House Restaurant. The Historic Narragansett Towers is also located at this location. For nature lovers, the Pettaquamscutt Cove National Wildlife Refuge provides grounds for shore birds, terns and a variety of fish.
And last but not least, the Point Judith Lighthouse is definitely worth a visit. The lighthouse is an octagonal brick building erected in 1816. Great for walks with the family - pet friendly!
